Dear Friend of the Jerome Lejeune Foundation,
Many fruits are emerging from Madame Jerome Lejeune’s visit to the US last month. In my last email I shared news of her various efforts while here. She touched a lot of hearts — especially young students and young families. Truly a beautiful experience.
One of the themes of her visit was her desire to inspire people to become part of her husband’s legacy. When he was near death, Dr. Lejeune became increasingly concerned about how his work would continue after his death.
He did not want the momentum to end. He wanted other people to embrace those with Down syndrome –– not discard them. He was a defender of life, but his particular passion was for those with genetic disorders such as Down syndrome. This was his entire life’s work! And facing death he feared his efforts would come to an end; see Mrs. Jerome Lejeune’s words on EWTN: click here.
Here in the US we are not going to let that happen!
Our plans to open a consultative hospital in 2020 for people with Down syndrome is in the works and progressing quickly. We’ve made tremendous headway bringing together medical professionals and sharing the amazing vision with many people. But there is a lot of work ahead! In fact, I’m just back from Paris where I traveled with a medical practice team who was able to get first-hand experience of the Jerome Lejeune 50+ years of consultative experience.
The hospital will be unique in its consultative approach, the experience offered, and its goal to never turn anyone away for financial reasons. Your donation will go directly to help support this objective.
Our goal is to raise $75,000 by December 31. That sounds like a lot. But we’ll get there with a combination of large and small gifts! We need these funds to support the staffing, training, and structures required during phase one of our hospital planning.
Just this week, medical professionals from the US, visited the Lejeune Institute in France. Their visit was part of a bigger plan to bring the decades of care, training, and hands-on experience to the new hospital in the US.
Could I ask you to consider a gift this holiday season towards this effort? In return, I promise you will feel tremendous joy from being part of an amazing effort that will transform the way people with Down syndrome are treated.
Your donation will go directly to funding the hospital, its staff, and the children and adults with Down syndrome it will serve. The hospital will never turn away someone that cannot pay. Our mission is to serve anyone, regardless of their financial ability. Your donation will help make this possible.
Thank you for your generosity.
