Their Story

Once upon time in 1990, Maryanne and Tommy met at a training center for individuals with disabilities. Sharing a mutual love of cooking, the two hit it off and began seeing each other. Maryanne’s sister Lindi, shares:

Maryanne doesn’t remember a life before Tommy. The day she met him, she had the biggest smile on her face and she couldn’t stop talking about him.

After 18 months of dating, Tommy proposed, and in 1995, the two tied the knot surrounded by 250 supportive friends and family members. Maryanne relates:

My wedding was the best day of my life. I was shocked when Tommy proposed but I didn’t have to think twice about saying yes.

Maryanne’s mother Linda and sister Lindi, have provided endless support to them throughout their marriage, helping care for them and manage their online presence. Managed by Lindi, the couple’s Facebook page boasts over 64,000 likes and documents their relationship, calling it a “fairy tale.”

Their marriage isn’t without its challenges, however. As Tommy has begun battling dementia in recent years, he has experienced mood swings and some other issues. Through the ups and downs, one thing is clear: there is no hurdle that their love cannot overcome. Maryanne tells the Daily Mail, “I love my husband very much. He is my best friend.”

Happy Anniversary, Tommy and Maryanne!
