For most people, lockdown meant putting life on hold.
But when Adam Mazen entered lockdown, he saw an opportunity. Using his increased time to create a distinct online presence, he is now one of the first influencers with Down syndrome to rise to popularity on TikTok.
At just 17 years old, Adam already has over 220,000 followers on TikTok, growing increasingly popular for his fun videos.
His brother, Mohammed, helps him film the videos, which include an eclectic blend of content – from cooking tutorials and travel videos to pranks. Through it all, they are guided by one overarching goal: to spread awareness and encourage acceptance of those with Down syndrome.
Mohammed told Reuters:
“Adam is one of us. He is the joy of our household. What we wanted to do was not just create a more accepting society, but to spread awareness, that there is not a limit for people with Down syndrome. All they need is support and love, and they can achieve so much.”
